I was having one of those days where things just seemed to be against me no matter what I tried to do. It really makes you reevaluate that the life you want to live isn’t the one you are presently living in. I have mentioned previously about ongoing problems with my family that I need to distance from, because it is a stressful environment when I have more than enough to do and deal with in my day.
I’m just a type of person that needs my own space and particular about things including being on a schedule. It would be very hard to organize my day if I wasn’t and being interrupted due to family issues doesn’t help at all. They just aren’t supportive as they should be, thinking only of themselves.
No wonder when I left the house after a nonsense argument with a family member, that I wasn’t in a cheery frame of mind heading off to the grocery store to get cat food. The weather too was gloomy. And got even more annoyed when I went to the store. They didn’t have that particular brand of cat food in stock so I had to drive a distance away to another outlet of that store.
When I got close to my destination, my car started overheating and turning off. I was on a main road at that time, and luckily was able to go through a parking lot, while it kept stalling with steam coming through the hood, till I got across the road to the other parking lot of the store. As I walked to the store, I looked back at my car and steam was still coming from the hood. I thought to myself, I hope it doesn’t blow up or anything and cools off by the time I get back.
Lucky for my cat that they had the brand of cat food, so I wasn’t going to have an unhappy kitty when I get back home. And on top it was half the price, so lucky for my pocketbook too. But then there was the question, while shopping, what am I going to do about my car. Call someone to pick me up or the emergency road service to tow it. I really didn’t know.
As I was walking back to the car, this older man was passing by heading to the store as he looked at me and smiled. I don’t know why but out of the blue I just blurted out, asking him if he knew about a overheating car and what could be causing it. He starting talking mechanic language so I didn’t understand what auto part he meant. Anyway he walked to my car and checked it out, determining that it needed antifreeze as reserve was low (and boiling), so he started pouring a couple bottles of bottled water he took from his car, which conveniently was parked right next to mine. Said to me it should get you home, just keep the heat on full blast to keep it circulating and to put in the antifreeze because winter is coming and water alone will freeze. Thankfully he was the right guy to approach and helped me out more than he realized in the frame of mind I was in.
So on my way back, i was praying that the car wouldn’t overheat again as I muddled my way through traffic, which took even longer to get home. On my way, I stopped to pick up a newspaper at a convenience store and decided to buy a lotto max lottery ticket since the jackpot was at a whopping $60 million. It reminded me of Randall Rush (lottery winner), who was buying cat food when he checked his lottery ticket and found out he won $50 million. Maybe cat food and the lottery go together.
One thing that instantly brightened my day is, when I got home, my cat was glad to see me (or should I say her food). I barely poured her food into the bowl and she gratefully gobbled it up. I guess it was worth the overheated car drive. She always makes my day better and gives me the incentive to keep a clear vision by looking ahead on the road to financial freedom.
Who knows maybe my luck will change after tonight!
