I do have to say since I started this 365 Days to A Million Dollars Challenge (32 days ago), it has kept me hopping. But I found that because of this challenge, I have a renewed interest in my blog (started it over a year ago then slacked off) and really enjoy blogging now. I look forward to it every day, as I see it growing day by day, and there is always something new that comes up.
Gee I even had Tony Chau (remember that millionaire internet marketer from HGTV’s House Hunters?) contact me the other day, telling me I did a good job on the article I wrote about him, asking me how I’m doing on my million dollar journey and said it’s always a pleasure to see another online marketer succeed. Just the motivation I need!
One thing I wasn’t totally prepared for when I started this million dollar challenge is the daily writing that I committed to. Although I had some posts prepared ahead, I should have done a lot more as they soon ran out as I concentrated on other aspects such as trying to set up a static front page (a work in progress), learning tools for creating images for pinterest and fine tuning various areas of the site.
Another blog I read, plans their posts about 2 months ahead. I think you have to because things can come up and you have to do the fine tuning before the posts are live. I have though many times been doing that part of it after the posts go live to meet my daily deadline. The only thing though is some things happen currently, such as yesterday OJ Simpson was released from jail, and a couple days before was the news about SpaceX’s Elon Musk planning to take humans to Mars with his BFR. From time to time I like to post and give my opinion of current events, so can’t plan those far ahead.
That’s the thing about a blog, you can always find a topic to write about and even vent (like I do from time to time). I think everyone should have a blog. That is why I created a tutorial on how easily you can start a wordpress blog in minutes.
When I started my 365 days challenge, I planned to work on my social media accounts (mainly instagram and facebook) to increase my followers and post regularly there. I didn’t think at that time pinterest (that I only opened around then) would be benefit to me as thought it would take much time to build it up. Well lo and behold, pinterest is the one that I mostly post (pin) to as is so easy to do by using a simple pinterest plugin that I installed. I just click the save when you hover over the top right pic in my post (try it), and it takes me straight to my pinterest account where I can easily add to my board. I’m done and can get back to doing other things. Of course I haven’t worked on the followers part yet but at least my pics for my posts are pinned there. No wonder a lot of the bloggers go on about pinterest and have their images ready with pinterest in mind.
Okay enough about the social media, it will somehow work itself out. I have enough to do!
The main thing about a blog is getting traffic to it. The more the merrier. I find with the daily posting, it’s happening on it’s own as I surely don’t have time right now to concentrate on the SEO or anything else like that. That would take away from my daily posting, which has been bringing traffic from google. I know I can get some from social media too, once I work on that aspect of it. But who knows, maybe my pinterest pins are helping me to rank in google. I used to focus on ranking in google in the past in another blog I had (which I since sold) but google has a mind of its own, and who can figure out all the algorithms that constantly change. I have better things to do. My suggestion would be just be active on your blog and put good content that people want to read, no matter what the subject is.
All I can say right now is that I’m happy with my blog and having fun too!
