The US election is an interesting one to say the least and reminds me of Mr. and Mrs. Howell from the old television series Gilligan’s Island. The song playing in the beginning always used to sing the words “the millionaire and his wife” in describing two of the castaways. These days that millionaire’s worth probably would equal the value of a billionaire today. So there is where I phrased the words “the billionaire and his wife” by interpreting it from the gilligan’s island song, comparing the two candidates running for president in the US election.
The “billionaire” of course is Donald Trump and “his wife” refers to Hillary Clinton, which is not meant literally as Trump’s wife but as the former president Bill Clinton’s wife. Without calculating all the worth of past presidents, I am assuming that Donald Trump if wins the election will be the first billionaire and non-politician to win and Hillary Clinton, if she wins the election, not only will she be the first female president but also is the wife of a previous president. They both will make history if either one gets elected, especially Hillary Clinton as both husband and wife were US Presidents.
Back when BIll Clinton was president, I always thought that it was Hillary Clinton’s dream and ambition to get him there and was the backbone behind his presidency. So I believed they were running it together, she behind the scenes, but definitely beside him so isn’t surprising that she stayed in politics after that and now pursuing the presidency herself. That in itself is quite an accomplishment and to be admired considering she is a woman who is a minority in a man’s political world.
It seems it could go either way for Trump or Clinton to win, as Trump seems to stir things up especially for those who are fed up with how things have been going, whereas Hillary tries to calm the storm that he creates and also has popularity of the charming President Bill Clinton backing her.
One thing for sure it will be an unforgettable and exciting election, no matter who wins, as we know for sure now that it will be either the billionaire or his wife.
