Is Your Cat Disposable Or A Family Member?

I was looking through kijiji ads, in the free stuff section, and came across a couple ads that made me question them. One was they were giving away their cat as were moving from an acreage into the city. Calling him a mouser who hates the city but is super cuddly and loves attention. Even shows a couple pics of them playing with him. The other one, also a cat, stated he loves to cuddle and give kisses, even gets along with dogs.

It right away got me thinking, those affectionate cats must be attached to their owners and are the owners not attached to them. Is your family member disposable? Then why is your pet.

Maybe it’s me just super analyzing or judging people who give away their pets.

Sure I understand circumstances due to illness, death or an unexpected event that the pet has to be given away, but if you’re just moving, why is that a good reason to give them away.

Cats are adjustable no matter where they go, just want to be near their owners and treated as family. Of course if it’s not a good home, then best to remove them and find a good home for them.

I have a cat and she means the world to me. She’s with me till death do us part because she is a family member and a sweet companion. When I took responsibility for her, it was a lifetime commitment (that was over 10 years ago and is still with me).

My kitty’s situation too was of being given away, feeling unwanted and went through a terrifying ordeal that almost cost her life. So of course, anyone giving away their pet without a valid enough reason would definitely bother me and question why they think their pet is disposable. Do they not have any attachment and how would they feel if someone was giving them away, making them feel unwanted.

I never planned to have a cat so it wasn’t like I was out looking for one like most are who do (and maybe some on a whim cause they think are so cuddly and cute but don’t understand the responsibility that goes with it). Circumstance placed us together and we grew attached to each other.

That’s why it pains me to see so many abandoned cats in shelters or on the streets. I wish they all find a loving forever home that they deserve to have.

I mean if you can’t handle the responsibility of a pet and make a lifelong commitment to one, then shouldn’t have one in the first place period. All true pet owners I’m sure would understand and agree with me.
