Forget Daylight Savings Time, I Need My Hour Of Sleep Back!

Time clocks were changed an hour back today as it went from daylight savings time back to standard time. Now I realized where that hour went because that extra hour that was lost is back and not only did I get extra sleep but had more time to do things. What a difference an hour makes!

Thankfully it didn’t affect my cat, who is usually up at 6 (or earlier) in the morning and has her breakfast after I get up and finish getting ready, about an hour or 2 later. That means according to the change in clock she was up at 5 (or earlier) and waited an extra hour for her breakfast. She didn’t act like she was anymore hungrier than she usually is and following the same routine basically, waiting for me and greeting me when I wake up. So the extra hour didn’t make her impatient for her late breakfast!

Here in Alberta where I live they were debating about cancelling daylight savings time (a poll showed 75% of the residents wanted it scrapped) and just have the same time all year round, like the province next to us has. Unfortunately the bill was not passed in legislature and we will continue on with changing the clock back and forth two times a year as usual. But they may debate it again in future.

I’m not happy about that because it does affect your body clock with the clock change, especially when you have to put it an hour ahead. Who cares if we get an extra hour of daylight in the summer? Why not go to bed earlier and wake up earlier if you want more daylight!

So all this time when it was in daylight savings time with the clock an hour ahead, I was always feeling I couldn’t catch up to time in all that I needed to do. But that changed as soon as the clock was changed back an hour. Now I seem to feel I have more time (and energy) to do my things and feeling more rested too. Like I said, what a difference an hour makes!

I’m sure not looking forward to “spring forward” when it changes an hour ahead, as that will mess things up again and be an hour behind on things again. Let’s stick with fall back permanently!

I think maybe I should move to the Saskatchewan (those in the US can move to Arizona) so can stay the same time all year round.  I don’t think we need this daylight savings time mumbo jumbo. Does anyone else agree with me?
